Facts
about child abuse...
Child
abuse is now one of the leading causes of childhood death in the US.
It
is estimated that for every case of child abuse that is reported,
two cases go unreported.
One
out of every four females are sexually abused before the age of 18.
One in eight males will be molested before they reach 18.
Children
under the age of 2 have the highest risk for death from child abuse
and neglect.
Studies
show that in many cases, a root cause of juvenile delinquency is
abuse by parents or caretakers.
Child
abuse knows no ethnic, economic, or geographic bounderies. The level
of education has little or no bearing on the problem; it is found in
every segment of American society. |
